Configuring Your Web Browser

Internet Explorer 3.0

1. Open Internet Explorer and connect to the Internet. Once you are connected, type www.ispname.xxx in the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

 

2. Once the page has finished loading, click on the View menu at the top of the screen, then click on Options.

 

3. Click on the Navigation tab at the top of the window that pops up. Next to Page:, Start Page should be listed. If not, select if from the drop-down menu. Then click on the Use Current button beneath Address:. Doing this will set www.ispname.xxx as your homepage.

 

4. Click on the Connection tab at the top of the window. Nothing should be check-marked in the window and all the white boxes should be blank.

 

5. Click on the Security tab at the top of the window. The following items should be check-marked:

  • Allow downloading of active content
  • Enable ActiveX Controls and plug-ins
  • Run ActiveX scripts
  • Enable Java programs

Click on the Safety Level button in the lower right corner.

 

6. Make sure a dot is next to Medium. If you come to a potentialy insecure website, Internet Explorer will notify you and you will be able to choose to proceed or not to go to that site. After all desired changes have been made, click OK.

 

7. You will be back in the Options window under the Security tab again. Now click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window. The items in the screen shot below should be check-marked in your window. After all desired changes have been made, click OK.
