Configuring
Your Web Browser
Netscape
4.7 (Mac edition)
1. Open
Netscape. Click on the Edit menu at
the top, then click on Preferences.
2. On
the left side, click on Appearance.
On the right, you may put a check mark next to any of the Netcape
components that you want to start up when you open Netscape. If
you just want to surf the Internet, a check mark next to Navigator
will be sufficient. Everything else on this screen is optional too.

3. Click
on the Navigator option on the left.
Make sure a dot is next to Home page.
Next to Home page location, type in
www.ispname.xxx.

4. Expand
the options under Mail & Newsgroups
on the left side. Click on Identity.
- Your
name:
anything you want
- E-mail
address:
login_name@tm.net
- Reply-to
address:
you can type any e-mail address you would like. It is usefull
if you have a second e-mail address you would like people to use
when they reply to your e-mail message.

5. Click
on Mail Servers on the left side.
Under Incoming Mail Servers: mail.ispname.xxx
should be listed. You may have others as well, but make sure mail.ispname.xxx
is the default mail server by clicking on it and then clicking the
Set as Default button.
Under Outgoing
Mail Server:
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should
be mail.ispname.xxx.
Outgoing mail server user name should
be the first part of your e-mail address, before the "@"
symbol.
A dot should be next to Never, under
Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing
messages.
Make sure mail.ispname.xxx
is highlighted under Incoming mail servers, then click the Edit
button on the right.

6. The
window below should pop up. Under the General
tab, Server Name should be mail.ispname.xxx.
Server Type should have POP
selected from the drop-down menu. User Name
should be your Mercury Network login name.
Putting a check mark next to Remember password
will allow you to check your e-mail without having to enter your
password each time.
A check mark next to Check for mail every
"X" minutes is optional.

7. Click
on the POP tab at the top. A check
mark next to Leave messages on server
will allow you to download your e-mail with Netscape Messenger and
then still be able to view you mail using Mercury Webmail. Click
OK.
