Configuring Your Web Browser

Netscape 6.0

1. Open Netscape. From the browser window, click on Edit and select Preferences.

2. It should come right to the screen below. If not, on the left side of the screen, click on the arrow next to Navigator to expand the options.

Make sure a dot is next to Home Page.
Next to Location, type www.ispname.xxx.

3. Click on the arrow next to Advanced to expand the options. The following three settings should be "X-ed":

  • Enable Java
  • Enable JavaScript for Navigator
  • Enable JavaScript for Mail and News

4. Select Cache on the left side of the window. Leave the Memory and Disk cache sizes alone. If a webpage you visit frequently has links that do not work, and clicking the Reload button in your browser window doesn't seem to change the page, then clearing your memory and disk cache may help to download an updated version of the webpage.

5. Select the Proxies option on the left side. A dot should be next to Direct connection to the Internet. Click OK in the screen.
