Configuring Your E-mail Program

Internet Mail 3.0 Settings

1. Open Internet Mail by double-clicking the icon on your desktop or going through My Computer --> (C:) --> Windows -->Internet Mail.

 

2. Click on the Mail menu at the top and select Options.

 

3. Under the Send tab at the top, any check marks are optional. Click the Read tab at the top.

 

4. Any check marks are optional in this window also. Click the Server tab at the top.

 

5. The following information should be entered:

  • Name: Any name you enter will appear in the "From" field of all your outgoing e-mails
  • Email Address: login_name@tm.net, where you replace the word "login_name" with your Mercury Network login name
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mail.ispname.xxx
  • Incoming Mail (POP3): mail.ispname.xxx
  • POP3 Account: the first part of your e-mail address that comes before the "@" symbol (your login name).
  • Password: your Mercury Network e-mail password

Click the Advanced Settings button in the lower right corner.

 

6. Next to Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server, 25 should be entered in the space provided. Next to Incoming Mail (POP3) Server, should be listed in the space provided. Any other check marks or settings are optional. Click OK.

 

7. Back in the Options window, click the Connection tab at the top. A dot should be next to I use a modem to access my e-mail. Under Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection, Mercury Network should be listed (or any other Mercury Network connection you are using). After all desired changes have been made, click OK.
