Configuring Your E-mail Program

Creating a New Profile in Netscape 4.7 (Mac edition)

1. Open your Hard Drive icon on your desktop. Then open the Netscape Communcator folder. Double click on User Profile Manager, it should be the last icon in the Netscape folder.

2. Click on the New button.

 

3. Click Next.

 

4. All of your e-mails will be from whatever you type in the Your Name field. Under E-mail address, type in your Mercury Network E-mail address as login_name@tm.net. Click Next.

 

5. Type what ever you want for a profile name, it will only appear in your computer. Click Next.

 

6. Click Next.

 

7. Type mail.ispname.xxx under Outgoing mail (SMTP) server. Click Next.

 

8. Under Mail server user name, type in the first part of your e-mail address that appears before the "@" symbol.
Under Incoming mail server: type in mail.ispname.xxx.
By Mail server type, put a dot next to POP. Click Next.

 

9. If you want access to news groups, type in news.ispname.xxx and make sure the Port # is 119. Secure should be unchecked. Click Next.

 

10. Put a check mark next to any of the Netscape components that you would like to have a shortcut on your desktop for. Click Next.

 

11. If you want to import an address book from another program or Netscape itself, put a check next to Import information from other programs. Click Next.

 

12. Click Done. Netscape Messenger is now configured for your e-mail address. When Netscape starts up, just select the profile you would like to use.
