Configuring Your E-mail Program

Settings of an Existing Profile in Netscape 4.7(Mac edition)

1. Open Netscape, then click on the Edit menu at the top. From that, select Preferences.

 

2. Expand the options under Mail & Newsgroups by clicking on the right-pointing arrow. Then click on Identity.
Type what ever you want next to Your Name.
E-mail address: login_name@tm.net
Reply-to address: you can type in any e-mail address that you would like people to send to when they reply to your e-mail.

 

3. Click on Mail Servers on the left side.
Make sure mail.ispname.xxx is listed and is set as the default server. If it is not, highlight mail.ispname.xxx and click the Set as Default button.
Under Outgoing Mail Server:
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.ispname.xxx
Outgoing mail server user name: first part of your e-mail address that appears before the "@" symbol.
Under Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages: a dot should be next to Never.

Highlight mail.ispname.xxx under Incoming Mail Servers. Then click Edit.

 

4. The window below should pop up. Under the General tab:
Server Name: mail.ispname.xxx
Server Type: POP should be selected from the drop-down menu
User Name: the first part of your e-mail address that appears before the "@" symbol.
A check mark next to Remember password will allow you to check your mail without retyping your password.
A check next to Check for mail every "X" minutes is optional.

 

5. Click the POP tab at the top. A check next to Leave messages on server is optional. Doing this will allow you to download you e-mail using Netscape Messenger and then still be able to view your e-mail on Mercury Webmail. Click OK.

 

6. In the previous window, click on the News Servers option on the left.
news.ispname.xxx (default) should appear. If default is not listed next to it, highlight news.ispname.xxx and click the Set as Default button.
Once news.ispname.xxx is highlighted, click the Edit button.
