Configuring Your E-mail Program

Reconfiguring an Existing Netscape 4.0x Profile

1. Open Netscape and then click on the Edit menu at the top, then select Preferences.

2. Click the arrow to the left of Mail & Groups to expand the options beneath it. Click the Identity option on the left side beneath Mail & Groups.

3. Whatever you have entered next to Your Name will appear in the "From" field of all your outgoing e-mails. Be sure your e-mail address is entered beneath that in the form login_name@tm.net. Click the Messages option on the left site.

4. Anything here is optional, click the Mail Server option on the left side.

5. The following Information should be entered:

  • Mail server user name: login_name -- the first part of your e-mail address that appears before the "@" sign
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • Incoming mail server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • Mail Server type: POP3

Click the More Options button in the lower-right side of the window.

7. Back in the Preferences window, click on the Groups Server option on the left side. Under Discussion groups (news) server, enter news.ispname.xxx. Make sure the Port is 119 and the box next to Secure is unchecked.
Click the Directory option on the left side.

8. Any changes here are optional, but it is recommended that you keep the default values. After all desired changes have been made, click OK.
