Configuring Your E-mail Program

Reconfiguring Outlook Express

1. Open Outlook Express, then click on the Edit menu at the top of the screen and select Preferences.

 

2. Make sure E-mail is highlighted on the left side of the window that pops up. Enter the following information:

  • Full name
  • E-mail address: login_name@tm.net
  • Organization: optional
  • SMTP Server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • Account ID: your Mercury Network login name with no spaces
  • POP Server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • Save Password: optional, if it is check marked, you won't have to enter your password everytime you open Outlook Express. You may enter your e-mail password in the space provided.
  • Account name: optional

 

3. Click on the Advanced... button in the lower part of the window. Only two things may be checked:

Do not include this server with Send & Receive (optional)
Leave a copy of messages on server (optional)
Leave the others unchecked. Click OK to continue.

 

4. Click on News on the left side of the window. The following information should be entered:

  • Server name: Mercury Network
  • Server Address: news.ispname.xxx
  • A check next to Display this news server in the folder list is optional

 

5. Click the General option on the left side of the window. Any checks are optional.

 

6. Click Proxies in the menu on the left. Only a check mark next to Use Web Proxy for all should appear. Click OK.
