Configuring Your E-mail Program

E-mail Errors

Unable to lock Mail drop
You were most likely disconnected while downloading your e-mail. You should wait at least 10 minutes and then try again, as our mail servers will not see that you have dropped your connection and will keep you logged into the server until it logs you out automatically after 10 minutes of nonusage.

One or more of the recipients was rejected by the mail server
Make sure you typed in the e-mail address correctly. If you didn't, you may have to delete the e-mail and rewrite it.

The host mail.ispname.xxx could not be found
Check to see if you are connected to the Internet. If you are, can you download any webpages? If you can, CLICK HERE for a list of e-mail programs and how to configure them. You may just need to check your settings. The host name, mail.ispname.xxx, should be entered in all lower-case letters with no spaces. You may want to replace mail.ispname.xxx with 65.192.200.18 for an incoming mail server and try that.

If you still cannot download your e-mail, then you may have a connection problem on hand and will need to contact Technical Support.

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address
The e-mail address in the "From" field of your outgoing message was rejected by our servers for one of the following reasons:

  • The "From" address was misspelled or not in the correct format (person@somedomain.com)
  • The "From" address is a domain that Mercury Network does not allow to send through our mail servers. For example, if you are sending an e-mail with a "From" address of person@something.com, the domain something.com is not a domain that your ISP hosts and thus will not allow that e-mail address to send messages through our servers. This is done to prevent spamming by outside users.

In your e-mail account properties, make sure the "From" e-mail address is login_name@SeeList, where you replace login_name with your  login name. If you have domain and e-mail hosting with us, you may use the domain name that you host with us . Any other domain name will be rejected by the server.

If the problem is recurring, look in the Outbox of your e-mail program and delete the offending e-mail.

If you have an alternate e-mail address that you would like people to reply to, you may enter a Reply To e-mail address in your e-mail account Properties.
