Configuring Your E-mail Program

Reconfiguring Netscape Mail 3.0

1. Open Netscape Navigator. When the browser windows opens up, click on the Options menu at the top of the screen. The click on Mail and News Preferences in the menu that drops down.

 

2. If you want Netscape Mail to be your Default e-mail program, under the When sending and receiving electronic Mail: subhead, put a dot next to Use Netscape for Mail and News. Everything else is optional. Click the Composition tab at the top.

 

3. Everything here is optional also, click the Servers tab at the top.

 

4. The following informatin should be entered:

  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: mail.ispname.xxx
  • POP3 User Name: your Mercury Network Login name, which is the first part of your e-mail address that appears before the "@" sign.
  • News (NNTP) Server: news.ispname.xxx
  • Anything else is optional

Click the Identity tab at the top.

 

5. What ever you have next to Your Name will be in the "From" field of all you outgoing e-mails. Enter your e-mail address next to Your Email in the form login_name@tm.net. Click the Organization tab at the top.

 

6. Everything here is optional also. If you want Netscape Mail to remember your password instead of typing it in every time you check for mail, put a check next to Remember Mail Password. After all desired changes have been made, click OK.
