Configuring Your E-mail Program

Reconfiguring a Netscape Communicator 4.0x Profile

1. Open Netscape Communicator. When the browser window opens, select the Edit menu at the top and then click on Preferences.

2. On the left side, under Category, click on the "+" sign next to Mail & Newgroups, then select Identity in the options that drop below it. Whatever you have entered under Your Name will appear in the "From" field of all you outgoing e-mails. Make sure your e-mail address is entered correctly below that in the form login_name@tm.net. Click the Messages option on the left side.

3. Any changes here are optional. Click the Mail Server option on the left side.

4. Next to Mail server user name, type in your Mercury network login name, which is the first part of your e-mail address that comes before the "@" sign. Both Outgoing mail (SMTP) server and Incoming mail server should be mail.ispname.xxx.
Under the Mail Server Type subheading, a dot should be next to POP3. Now click the More Options button in the lower right corner.

5. IMAP server directory should be blank. A check mark next to Check for mail every <xx> minutes is optional, as is a check mark next to Remember my mail password. After all desired changes have been made, click OK to return to the Netscape Preferences window.

6. Click the Groups Server option on the left side. Under Discussion groups (news) server, enter news.ispname.xxx if you wish to participate in news groups. If not, you may leave it blank. The Port should be 119 and the box next to Secure should be unchecked. After all desired changes have been made, click OK.
